The standard Moticams connect to a computer via USB, and allow a live image to be displayed, and still and motion images to be captured and analysed, using the included Motic Images Plus 3.0 software.
It can be connected to a microscope using the included eyepiece adaptors, or used to observe larger samples such as leaves, insects and rocks, by attaching the supplied macro tube.
Lower resolution cameras are suitable for basic applications and as an introduction to digital microscopy, as well as for those on a budget. Small pictures captured with these can be used in documents and websites.
Higher resolution cameras produce high-quality, sharp images with plenty of detail. If used on a large screen, the whole class will be able to see important features in the image. They are also essential if images are to be used in high quality publications, or enlarged to go on a poster, for example.
The Moticam X models connect via network, either WiFi or Ethernet, to allow multiple devices to view and capture images.
Finally, the Moticam 1080 allows connection direct to a display via its HDMI port. A mouse can be connected to control the on-board software.
