The simplest way possible to measure 'g' by Free Fall! This innovative 'baseball' allows easy measurement of the acceleration due to gravity - at a very cost effective price.
The ball contains an integral digital timer, which can display times between 0.01 to 29.99 seconds. Simply hold down the button to zero the display then release the ball from your hand at a known height above the ground. Timing starts when the ball is released and stops when it hits the floor. Although the mechanism is well protected it is advisable to drop the ball onto a soft surface, such as a grassed area or carpeted floor. Maximum vertical drop is about 12 metres, depending on the landing surface.
The 'g' ball timer is powered by 2 x SR54 button cells, which are replaceable. Comes complete with batteries. Dimensions (Dia.): 100mm.
Examples of experiments using the 'g'-ball:
1. Determine the acceleration due to gravity.
2. How high is this ceiling/stairway/ building
3. Release the ball from a certain height. Repeat the experiment from the same height but now throw the ball sideways and compare the results.
