This is a completely self-contained entry-level gamma ray spectrometer, which is compact and easy to set-up and use, making it ideal for education.
The apparatus features a 5x5x5 mm CZT detector, which enables room temperature operation with excellent resolution. The working temperature is 10-40 °C
An audio output on the unit “clicks” for each event, and the loudness of each click depends on the energy of the event. The clicks can be heard using headphones connected to the unit, or via a loudspeaker connected via an amplifier for class demonstrations.
A blue LED on the housing flashes to indicate each incident.
Data can be output via USB (cable included), and readings taken using free-to-download K-Spect™ software. The software can be projected on a screen for class demonstrations.
The unit is powered by USB, so no external supply is required.
